Introductory Mi’kmaw Language Course

The Glooscap Heritage Centre is excited to be hosting a 6 week introductory Mi'kmaw language course starting Jan. 20th to be held Wednesday evenings from 6:30 - 8:30 pm. The course will be taught by celebrated and long time educator Patsy Paul-Martin, Coordinator of First Nation Cultural Services with the Chignecto Regional School Board. The program is open to everyone and all are encouraged to come and to begin learning how to read, write and speak Mi'kmaq. Every Monday, Starting January 25, 2010, from 3:00pm to 4:30 pm, Glooscap Heritage Centre is happy to offer our newest programme, Regalia Drop In Group. Whatever project you're working on, bring it to the GHC and work with others. Don't know how to make something? Come and let the group help you learn. All are welcome, no registration required. Free for all ages and bring your own supplies.
Girl Guides and Scouts...
Visit the Glooscap Heritage Centre and learn about the Mi'kmaq. Program and tour meets criteria for Cultural/Aboriginal Awareness Badges. Tour will be lead by a Heritage Interpreter. Guides will learn about the Mi'kmaq culture, stories and celebrations. Cub Scouts will learn about inventions, the way of life and how the Mi'kmaq survived off the land.
When: Monday to Thursday evenings
Location: 65 Treaty Trail, Truro, Nova Scotia
Cost: $3.00 per child (one leader for every five children admitted free)
